Protect Our Planet Project
The air, land, and water around us are changing ā and young people are noticing. Theyāre asking questions, making observations, and trying to understand what these changes mean for their world. But knowing what to do with that awareness can be harder.
Protect Our Planet invites young people around the world, ages 5-25, to explore the air, land, and water around them and use creativity to share their stories and ideas for a thriving planet.
The deadline to submit creative work to the Protect Our Planet Project is June 1, 2027 11:59pm PDT.

A Breath of Air ā Year 1 & 2 Mixed-Media Art
Year 1 and 2 explored the invisible world of air and wind through mixed-media artwork. After listening to classical music inspired by the movement and sounds of wind, the children imagined and chose their own type of weather to represent ā calm, breezy or stormy. They experimented with colour, line, texture and movement, combining different materials and mark-making techniques to communicate how the air might feel and move around us. Through expressive, layered compositions, each child created a unique interpretation of āliving air,ā transforming something invisible into something we could see, feel and experience through art.

Reflection
As part of the Creative Visions’ Protect Our Planet theme, students explored the importance of water and how protecting this essential resource impacts people, animals, plants, and communities. Students considered water at the local, national, and global level while discussing how water supports health, ecosystems, agriculture, communities, and our shared future. Individual drops were combined into one large collaborative display.

Greenup County High School
Reflection
9th-12th grade humanities students went on the campus of our high school and looked for items that connected to the elements of land, water, and air. We are not near a natural water source, therefore they focused on land and air. The students created pieces of art using the leaves, rocks, branches and flowers. The resources used were printer paper and Crayola crayons. This activity was a great way for students with all artistic abilities to create their own vision and help support a great cause.
