Imagine the National Mall in Washington, D.C. covered with one million bones, a visual petition against humanitarian crises happening in the world today.
On Saturday, June 8, 2013, thousands of volunteers laid down one million bones on the National Mall, the culmination of a global effort. Events lasted all weekend, June 8 - 10, 2013. Students Rebuild partnered with the One Million Bones project and challenged students worldwide to make bones as a symbol of solidarity with victims and survivors of ongoing conflict in places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Somalia. Each bone made and sent in generated $1 from the Bezos Family Foundation for CARE's work in these regions, up to $500,000!
