We are excited to be a partner with Students Rebuild and this year’s Facing Difference Challenge. At The Learning Accelerator (TLA), we believe every child is unique and deserves a highly effective, engaging, and equitable education that meets their strengths, needs, and interests. In order to achieve this vision, we are catalyzing the transformation of K-12 schooling through blended learning, which we define as the integration of in-person instruction and technology to enable personalization, real-time data use and mastery-based progression.

The Facing Difference Challenge provides a wonderful opportunity to build student engagement and agency, a key element of personalization. Giving students agency over their own learning empowers them to not only access materials in new ways, but really understand it themselves as learners and push themselves in new ways to display mastery. If you participated in the Facing Difference challenge and are looking for other ways to build student engagement and agency, we can help. We have spent several years looking for, identifying, and working with practitioners to capture innovative problem-solving blended learning strategies, including many that enable student agency and choice.

We are sharing several of our favorite strategies for building student engagement, agency and choice.

We hope you will give these strategies a try in your classrooms! We would love to hear your feedback on these ideas. Feel free to reach out to me at or follow up on Twitter @LearningAccel.
